Join us for the Frosty Fat Sass; a fat-ass event for runners who love the cold (or runners who hate the cold but need to sign-up for an event because they need the accountability to keep running through the winter). The $25 registration fee goes directly to the South Mountain Conservancy, an awesome local non-profit that preserves the South Mountain Reservation and provides great educational and recreational opportunities for the community. With you registration, you will become a member of the South Mountain Conservancy!

That's right-- come run/hike a 5K in a ONESIE! We will meet at the NYNJTC Headquarters in Mahwah, NJ and run around the Ramapo Valley County Reservation. We had over 80 runners dressed in their best onesies in 2020!

Double the Squatch, double the fun! Join us at Stokes State Forest for the DOUBLE SQUATCH as we support the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference! Runners and hikers can sign up for a 5K, 3H or 6H on one or both days! Do you have what it takes to run for hours on Saturday and then come back and do it all again on Sunday??? This is the perfect event for ultra runners who need those back to back long runs! How many miles can you Squatch in two days?

Test your speed, endurance and mental toughness as you race to be crowned THE LAST SQUATCH STANDING! The 1-mile loop starts and finishes at the Turtleback Rock Picnic Area at the South Mountain Reservation off of Walker Road in West Orange, NJ. Complete each mile in the allotted time or get eliminated! Do you wish loop races could be more like a roller derby? Do you dream about clotheslining your competition on a single-track trail when you want to pass? Thought about tripping another runner so you could finish ahead of them? If you've ever had any of those thoughts, you'll need to practice your deep-breathing and consider carrying a stress-ball in your hydration pack because our insurance policy doesn't cover tackling, foul-play or booby-traps! *we have temporarily closed online registration until we learn from the CDC, White House and the Park Permitting Office

An ultramarathon that begins at midnight? YES, YES, YES! Join us at the Burlington County Fairgrounds for the Midnight Squatchapalooza! Runners can sign up to squatch for 12 hours, 9 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, or a 5K. Don't miss out on the biggest Sassquad Trail Party of 2020! his is the perfect event for both newbies and veteran trail runners! The flat and fast course is ideal for new trail runners who are jumping into the squatchtastic world of Ultra Running AND for the veteran runners looking to push their limits.

We are proudly supporting local ultra runner James Leitner in his epic runventure: 30 miles, every day, for 30 days to raise $30,000 for his amazing non-profit charity: Mission Clean Water! Starting on July 1st, James will begin running 30 miles every day for 30 days to help bring clean water to an all girls school. Regardless of weather, he will be running, carrying water, and moving forward.

This year's Fat Sass Switchback Challenge will be virtual! Runners can sign-up for a 5K (3 loops) 3 hours or 6 hours and complete it anytime between July 1-15. The 1.1 mile loop with 300 ft elevation gain starts and finishes at the Locust Grove Picnic Area off of Glen Ave in Millburn, NJ at the South Mountain Reservation. The funds raised will be donated to our friends at “Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors”, an awesome local non-profit that assists local families in need.

Join us at the Watchung Reservation in Mountainside, New Jersey on Saturday September 28, 2019 for THE SQUATCHUNG SURPRISE! Inspired by legendary RD Sherpa John's TommyKnocker Ultra in Golden, Colorado, The Squatchung Surprise will test your endurance, speed and mental fortitude as your fate on the course is determined by the luck of the draw... There are 4 different trail loops and a bucket of golf balls that match the color of each loop. Runners will reach into the bucket and pull out a golf ball to determine which loop they will run! Running for 3/6/9 hours not your thing? Don't worry, the Squatch has you covered! You can sign up for the 5K!

Join us on October 3, 2020 at Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park, NJ for a BEACH race! We are excited to offer several different events at the Sand Squatch! We are joining the park's Bark-Tober Fest and Pet Expo for 2020 which means that we will be offering a 1 mile doggie division! Bring your favorite four-legged friend to run/walk 1 mile on the beach. Runners can also sign-up for a 4-miler or an 8-miler.

The Thanksgiving feast is over, Black Friday is done; now it's time for you to get off the couch, leave the stores and head over to the trails! Join us on Saturday November 30, 2019 at the South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, NJ for The Squatchy Leftovers 5K & 10K trail run! This is a free fun run event: in lieu of a registration fee, we will be collecting donations for "Operation Chillout" and will finish the race with a potluck--bring your favorite post-race food or your Thanksgiving leftovers to share with everyone!

Maggie (Maggatron) Guterl became a household name for runners' around the world when she won Big's Backyard Ultra in October 2019, covering 250 miles in 60 hours... Us East Coast Runners had so much pride as we watched Maggie outlast 70+ runners because up until recently, Maggie resided on the Beast Coast. Maggie will share her running journey from local Philadelphia 5K road races to the Barkley Marathons (and the 2018 Sassquad Squatchung Surprise), and lessons learned along the way. In September of 2017, Ryan Thrope set the FKT (Fastest Known Time) for the 72 mile New Jersey section of the Appalachian Trail with a time of 15h 36m 25s. Then in April of 2020, Steve Lange set the current FKT with a time of 13h 34m 19s. And guess what?
