SEPTEMBER 24, 2022

We are so excited for the newest Trail Party on the Sassquad Calendar... The SQUATCHAYANDA TRAIL FESTIVAL! Join us at Wawayanda State Park in Hewitt, NJ on Saturday September 24, 2022 for a 50 miler, Marathon or 25K. Spoiler Alert: we are adding the first ever Sassquad 100 Miler to this Trail Party in 2023 (we anticipate the 2023 race date to be September 23). We are supporting our non-profit partner, Bigger Than The Trail with this Trail Party!

SQUATCHAYANDA TRAIL FESITVAL

The Squatchayanda Trail Festival is a Trail Party that is designed for both the Newbies and the Veterans. With around 100 feet of elevation gain per mile, this is a GREAT first 50 miler opportunity for the Newbies. 50 Milers have 15 hours! COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a very runnable course! With the exception of only a few miles of technical single-track trails, you'll enjoy double-wide crushed gravel trails with rolling hills the rest of the time! We'll be using about 23 miles of trails throughout Wawayanda as well as 4 total miles of a flat road (that has a crushed gravel sidewalk). The Start/Finish and Aid Station #1 are located at Wawayanda Beach. Aid Station #1 will serve hot food, snacks, water and Skratch. Aid Station #2 and #3 are water-only stops. Keep reading for Aid Station Locations....The "22.7 mile loop" does come back to the start/finish around mile 11.7, so there is a 1/2 mile section you will double-back on to start the second half of the loop.

50 Miler Course: Approximately 8,800 feet of elevation change (gain + loss) total. 50 Milers will complete the 22.7 mile loop twice and then finish with the 4 mile road lollipop.

Marathon Course: Approximately 4,400 feet of elevation change (gain + loss) total. Marathoners will complete the 22.7 mile loop once and then finish with the 4 mile road lollipop

25K Course: Approximately 2,600 feet of elevation change (gain + loss) total. 25Kers will complete the 11.7 mile loop once and then finish with the 4 mile road lollipop.

25K Course: Approximately 2,600 feet of elevation change (gain + loss) total. 25Kers will complete the 11.7 mile loop once and then finish with the 4 mile road lollipop.

FAQS

CAN I HAVE A PACER?

 No pacers are allowed.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

NO. Our insurance policy does not cover dogs at our races. Thanks for understanding.

WILL THERE BE AN AID STATION?

YES! Our main aid station will have a wide variety of traditional ultra running food, as well as many vegan and gluten-free items. You are more than welcome to bring your own food/water and setup your own aid station in the parking lot and access it each time you come to the start/finish area (see above Course Description for Aid Station #1 locations)

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?

WILL I SEE SASQUATCH?

We sure hope you do! Make sure you take a selfie with him if you see Squatchy out there!

885 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt-NJ

Hopefully we are going to have a nice fall day! But, it could be cold. Maybe. It could be warm. Check the weather before the race and dress appropriately. The zip code for the race is 07421.

CAN I REGISTER MY KIDS FOR THIS RACE?

YES! We love having families join us. If you are registering 3 or more squatches, please email us for a discount code! trailpartydirector@sassquadtrailrunning.com

WILL THE COURSE BE MARKED?

ME AND MY FRIEND AREN'T REGISTERED FOR THE RACE, BUT WE'RE STILL PLANNING ON COMING TO RUN. WE WON'T EAT FROM THE AID STATION OR TAKE A MEDAL OR SWAG. THIS IS OKAY, RIGHT?

We will have pink/red reflective colored ribbons along the course and plenty at all of the turns, along with large red directional arrows that have reflective tape on them.

ARE THERE ANY RESTROOMS?

YES, there are real restrooms at the start/finish area. There is another restroom at Aid Station #2.

CAN I GET A REFUND?

Unfortunately we do not offer refunds on the nonrefundable registration fee.

NO THIS IS NOT OKAY. This is called being a "race bandit" and it is stealing. Not paying for a race and running the race is stealing from the race organization (even if you're not taking food or swag). Don't do this at a Sassquad trail party or ANY other race. It's not okay. And if you hear about someone else doing this, call them out. If you bandit a race, you will be banned from registering for any of our Sassquad events.

WHAT ADDRESS SHOULD I USE TO GET TO THE PARK?
