At Sassquad Trail Running, we welcome athletes of all abilities. We are committed to supporting adaptive athletes so everyone can enjoy the challenge and joy of trail running. Trail running and hiking is for all bodies, all abilities, all runners, and all hikers, and we cannot wait to see you out on the trails. Do you need any accommodations at the Trail Party? Sassquad Trail Running is committed to making our events as inclusive and accessible as possible. Some examples include, but are not limited to: a delayed start, translation of race communications, access to a quiet space during the race. Newbies can request a buddy to join them before and during the event. Folks who feel unsafe or apprehensive due to the unrest that is happening in the world right now can request support at the race. As well as Elder Squatches who would feel more comfortable having a pacer/guide on the trail. Please complete this form at least 3 weeks before the race to let us know how we can support you at our events. We will do our best to accommodate your requests. Our Accessibility Coordinator will reach out to you once we receive your requests.
If you're a runner or hiker with a physical, intellectual, and/or neurodevelopmental disability and need a guide to enjoy the trails, check out our Team HippoGriffin program! Runners and hikers who need support will be paired with volunteer guides to train together through group meet-ups on local trails.

Help Us Buy an Off-Road Wheelchair Track System!
This is a special fundraiser to purchase a Freedom Trax, a joystick-operated track system that transforms standard manual wheelchairs into off-road trail blazers.
Why the Freedom Trax Track System?
For many wheelchair users, experiencing the beauty of the trails is limited by terrain. The Freedom Trax changes that. It lets folks roll right onto the trails in the comfort of their own everyday chairs, keeping the exact support they need while crushing hills, dirt, and gravel with ease.

It can travel up to 8 miles on a single charge and easily handles hills, dirt, gravel, and uneven trail surfaces.

It fits a wide range of custom manual wheelchairs, including pediatric and tilt-in-space models.

It is lightweight and highly portable, meaning we can easily pack it up and bring it to our future trail parties.
Our Vision: To remove barriers and provide opportunities for wheelchair users to experience the joy and community at our Sassquad trail events alongside family and friends.
The total cost to purchase the Freedom Trax system is $8,000. Every single dollar raised goes directly toward making our trail community more inclusive. Thank you for being a part of the Sassquad family and helping us make the trails accessible for everyone!
